History

McAlister Assets, LLC is a real estate investment firm focused principally on undeveloped land investments for long-term capital gains and industrial and rail-served developments in the metropolitan markets of Texas. McAlister Assets, LLC was founded by Hydie McAlister in January 2018. Hydie McAlister’s father, Jim McAlister, Sr., formed the original McAlister Company of Houston in 1973 to acquire investment land parcels in the greater Houston area in the path of growth for single- and multi-family residential, retail, and mixed-use commercial.

The value of the transactions associated with McAlister Assets, LLC and the McAlister family of companies totals over $1 billion in the past 50-plus years. The superior and sustainable performance of the partnerships through various economic cycles reinforces the time-tested strategy of diversification, utilizing land as a tactical asset allocation.

 

In 2003, McAlister company transitioned from forming individual partnerships for each investment to forming discretionary real estate investment funds, acquiring multiple investment properties to achieve the benefits of diversifications and cash flow to investors for land acquisitions in the greater Houston, San Antonio, and Austin areas.

In 2008, Jim McAlister, Sr. formed McAlister Investment Real Estate with Hydie McAlister, and later joined by Paul Connor in 2012 to pursue advantageous land investment opportunities resulting from the real estate crisis.

In 2017, Hydie McAlister formed RCR Rail Co and brought in Jeff Pittman of CBRE as a development partner. RCR Rail Co.’s first project was a 121 AC rail development serviced by Union Pacific Railroad in Hempstead, TX; it’s second rail park development in Taylor, TX is serviced by Union Pacific and BNSF. The Taylor rail development is a 751.5 AC mixed-use park boasting value-added services of transloading, manifest and unit train rail service, commodity storage, railcar storage, and a new distribution center built by Partners Development. RCR Rail Co. is always on the lookout for new rail-served investment opportunities.

Principal & Founder

Hydie McAlister began her commercial real estate career in 1991 with the McAlister Company. In 2008, Hydie founded McAlister Investment Real Estate, bringing with her experience in capital formation, asset selection, due diligence and investor relations. She has been instrumental in the identification and acquisitions of $250M+ in land assets for her respective companies. Between February 2018 and August 2022 over $139 million in private equity was raised for her long term capital gain land holdings and rail-served industrial parks.
